WindHorse Arts will be hosting The Vinalhaven Historical Society. Stop in and meet Hal, the executive director, learn a little bit about the society and maybe purchase one of the many items from the gift shop that helps support the organization! The Vinalhaven Historical Society is located on High St a short walk from town and is open from June to September.  Vinalhaven is one of the largest of the 14 year-round island communities in Maine.  The Vinalhaven Historical Society was founded in 1963, and strivesto enrich the life of the island through efforts in collecting and cataloguing the fascinating history of our community.  

The Society has an extensive collection of photographic, genealogical, and vital records.  The Museum houses atrifacts from the Civil War, Vinalhaven schools and homes, and tools for farming, fishing, and from the granite industry.

Penny Ross Burk will be at WindHorse Arts on Thursday July 11 from 11 -4.

Penny has written and illustrated several children’s books mostly for ages 4 to 7. She’s also worked developing her other art interests over five decades. Most reccently Penny has been creating found object art in combination with watercolors.
