Inspired by Vinalhaven, Stories, and the Connections We Share
Vinalhaven is more than just where I live—it’s the heart of my creativity. Nestled on Penobscot Homelands in Penobscot’s Bay, this rugged island is a constant source of inspiration. Follow the link to see snapshots from my morning walks—quiet coves, shifting tides, wild granite shores, and the kind of light that changes everything. These moments shape my glasswork, and I’d love to share them with you. Let the colors, textures, and quiet magic of this place inspire you, just as they inspire me.

Poetry is my little secret ingredient for joy—it’s a way to connect, reflect, and spark a little magic in everyday life. My love affair with poetry began one spring at Haystack when I was completely swept away by Naomi Shihab Nye's "Kindness" as read by Stu Kestenbaum. The words filled me with something I couldn’t quite explain and left me teary-eyed (in the best way!). From that moment, I was hooked.
That summer, I started offering the NY Times in my store, but instead of letting the heavy, grim front page get all the attention, I placed that beautiful poem right on top of it. It was my way to offer a bit of kindness in the midst of chaos.
Then, something amazing happened: my customers started sharing their favorite poems with me! And when the pandemic hit, I found myself reciting poems while walking along the beach, the ocean breeze mixing with the words. It became a way to stay connected during a time when we needed connection the most. Poetry, to me, is like a joyful thread that runs through my work, reminding us all that we’re part of something bigger and beautifully interconnected.
