WindHorse Arts - FAQ’s

  • I was introduced to WindHorse when I was reading The Sacred Path of the Warrior. WindHorse is the self-existing energy of basic goodness. To read more please click here

  • I use glass from Bullseye Glass in Portland Oregon and silver comes from Rio Grande in New Mexico

  • Great questions! Each color is made up of 2 -4 different colors layered on top of each other and then fired in the kiln until the layers melt to become one and voila - a new color! To date I’ve created over 437 colors.

The decision as to which ones I make - that comes from all sorts of places - morning walks, sunsets, customers, friends… anywhere

  • At WindHorse Arts, every color tells a story. Each unique color is carefully named, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources—whether it's something I’ve seen, a customer’s idea, or even the wonderfully creative suggestions from kids who visit the shop. Their free-spirited ideas often lead to the best names! The beauty of this approach is that the names are always tied to the colors themselves, making them memorable and easier to share with others. Once a color sells out, its name is retired, ensuring that each piece you own is part of a limited edition, one-of-a-kind collection.

  • In all aspects of my work I am conscious of the impact I have on the environment. My kilns operate on electricity and I'm fortunate to live on Vinalhaven where we generate all of our electricity from wind turbines. All of my shipping and packaging materials are either recycled or made from recycled materials. I generate no landfill trash from my studio - everything is either recycled, composted or reused. I maintain a large raw materials inventory which allows me to always request ground shipping. This is my 25th year in business and I believe I got here because I am always finetuning my practices and systems to support a growing, sustainable and environmentally sound business.
